Not sure what it's all about?

Have you heard the word?
The word is that we get the chance to work with Larian Studios to design an NPC character in their about-to-win-kickstarter sequel, <span class="bold">Divinity: Original Sin 2</span> - a unique in-game character, the #GOGHero, complete with a backstory and private motivations to intertwine with the players' fates.

Well. YOU get to design them.

Because the more is always the merrier, we're handing the #GOGHero over to you, the gamers, and everyone is welcome to pitch in with their ideas! The entire gaming community is invited to a massive brainstorming session with Larian Studios & GOG.com, and to submit their own ideas for the upcoming character.

For a touch of authenticity, Larian is providing official guidelines to work with - just like the ones they use during development. Fun, but optional:

--Each character has 3 major traits: Vanity, aggression, pride, self-confidence, racist towards dwarves/elves/humans/orcs/sourcerers...
--1 Quirk or Eccentricity: A predilection for dogs in leather boots, refuses to face north for religious reasons, in denial about his singing.
--One Fear/Loss/Block/Wound: Something traumatic in their background for which they are compensating in some way, or which drives them to do something normal people don't. His wife was killed in a tragic accident and now he's a kamikaze detective with a death wish. His parents were murdered by a criminal so now he's a vigilante crime-fighter. He's terrified of intimacy so treats women terribly. That kind of thing.
--Race: Human, dwarf, elf, lizard, undead.
--Background: Gender, age, job function, loyalties.

Throughout the brainstorm, the team from Larian, including creative director Swen Vincke among others, will be joining in us to browse, weigh in, and search for inspiration! Finally, when the time comes, they'll design three final characters combining the awesomest ideas, complete with official concept art and backstory. Once again, the #GOGHero will be placed in your hands with an official vote to chose the favorite champion from the three proposals. The winning character will go on to become the community-made, full-featured NPC in Divinity 2: Original Sin.

This is so awesome! There really will be an Original Sin 2!

As to the character, how about a claustrophobic dwarf who can't go back underground due to his fear. Instead he wears boots with really big heels and tries to pass himself off as a human wizard. Being a dwarf means that his people don't have the natural affinity for magic so he is actually a very terrible wizard, his potions don't actually do anything (well one time a guy went blind and woke up with a terrible hangover but he doesn't count that). Still the dwarf tries and tries, always failing and never seeing his true talents. Out of despiration he creates a number of gadgets that he can hide in his robe which give the illusion of magic, such as a small electric capasitor that can be charged up and releases a bolt of electricity much like a spell would. He could be the greatest inventor of all time, but that's more of a dwarf thing and he is a human wizard; just look at his height and hat (but not his boots) and you can clearly see he is no dwarf!

Vain and proud, which does also manifest as self confident. There is nothing the #GOGHero can't (eventually) do, even if the result may not be up to the crowd's expectations.

Refuses to sing, under any circumstances. A long time ago, he did perform a slow jam, and the crowd kept asking for more and more singing, until the #GOGHero declared he would never sing again.

Fear of abandonment. When our #GOGHero was still young, he did return to his home one day to find the shutters closed and the door nailed shut. He screamed and wailed for some time, until his companions appeared from behind some bushes, claiming it was all a prank and they would never abandon our #GOGHero. That lead to our #GOGHero being wary of anyone striving too far away, as well as making him anxious whenever he hears the word prank (or Good News!).

He is a human male of undetermined age, though while he is physically still at his prime, his wisdom is that of a much older person. He makes sure to teach everyone who listens about the past, as well as predict what great things the future may hold, even if his guesses aren't always correct. His loyalty is with anyone who is interested in learning what he has to teach, even if they do have other teachers.
So what about an undead who is racist towards steam gamers and refuses to bind himself to an online-account for religious reasons?

Just joking! ;)
Why does this thread exist? CIRI CIRI CIRI!
Marcin - human, male, 41, salesman
An identity-locked (DRMed?) book decided to fall on his foot in self-defense, smashing his foot flat.
He has a strong hatred of identity-check spells, leading to his dislike of wizards - especially human ones, as shorter lifespan forces humans to put more effort into research.
Also has a dislike for elves as he was cheated on by an elf girl.
Will not buy anything, and would be reluctant to sell to, humans and elves, esp. human/elf wizards (but won't jack up prices for fear of ending up in a prison cell).
Lives in a town with lowest taxes but keeps his family in a poorer, higher-taxed yet safer place.
Quirk: tonedeaf, sleep-sings during afternoon naps, result is a shrill variation of game's main theme. By the time events bring you back to his town, he's trying hard to combat his sleep-singing as it ruins sales.
With enough digging around, you can learn that the lowered taxes in that town are a result of his wife manipulating the town council, to make Marcin stay there and not come home with his sleep-singing.

P.S. Hope this is not TOO blatant of a mixup of Iwinski with GOG
Geralt von GOGstein, a hypocritical cleric who preaches things that he himself does not adhere to.
So a regular priest really.

Vanity is afraid of how other undead see him\she.
Aggressive against Fire Sorcerers.
Racist against Humans.

1 Quirk or Eccentricity:Has a terror of other undead being more handsome\beautiful than he\she during a Full Moon and when it's daylight.

-One Fear/Loss/Block/Wound:Humans were responsible for his\her death by fire (stake),so is always nervous and afraid of them but will strike a dark blade to a human's heart if threatened. So in Cities and Villagers the party needs to be careful and alert for trouble.

-Race:Undead.

Background: Gender, age, job function, loyalties.

Any Gender.
Age 310 years old.
A Killing machine.
None.
