Hey guys i have been working on these patch's for “Broken Sword 1 Directors Cut” and “Broken Sword 2 Remastered”, The patch's make it so you can play without the faces (portraits) that are shown while speaking in-game and the other patch disables the blue circles that show around points of interest. I have included 2 versions of the “Disable Faces” patch, the V1 disables the faces but also centers the text so all text is shown in the middle top of the screen rather then at the sides of the screen, V2 however just disables the faces but keeps the text where it was originally.
Anyway these patch's haven't been fully tested yet (the BS1DC face patch's have been tested by a few people and it seems to work on all versions but the steam version so i am guessing all these patch's will only work on Non-Steam versions of “BS1DC” and “BS2R”) So any feedback is welcome.

So if anyone can try these out on different releases (for example i tested BS1DC on the GOG version and it worked) of BS1DC and BS2R and post their results here i would appreciate it.
Ummm.

Anyone tried this out yet? Would like to hear opinions on it. I'm about to play BS2 and I really am conflicted to which version I should play. I want the classic feel without points of interest marked in the game but on the other hand I would like to see the HD graphics.
Hey nice to see someone interested in this, over 200 downloads and no one seems to have commented on it on here, in the original post on the revolution forum a few people posted on it
http://forum.revolution.co.uk/topic/355/?page=2
But if you do try it please let me know how you get on :)
And on a personal note i prefer playing the original BS2 (instead of the remastered) with Scummvm with the HQ filter and it looks pretty good.
lol i ended up just playing the original version. I don't know how to turn on the HQ filter

Hey.
How do you create the patch? What have you done? I am interested in such things. Can you explain it?
Hi, well to make the patch i first had to find what i was looking for, i used cheat engine to locate the address of what i was looking for then once i had the address i used a hex editor to hex edit the EXE file and used CodeFusion to make the actual patch.
I Hope this helps, if you need a more in-depth description i can explain it more but please be precise in which points you need me to explain. Good Luck with whatever your trying to create :)

Hi,

now there is a linux version online. I am looking for a code or something like that where you change it. You used a cheat engine? What does it mean?
Sorry for the late reply, been so busy recently, i havent taken a look at the linux version of broken sword but from what i know about linux they use ELF files which are different to the EXE files used in windows so i doubt these patch's would work on linux but it may be possible to make a linux version but i would need to learn linux first and find something that works like cheatengine or maybe you could just play the windows version in wine ?
Thank you SO MUCH for these patches.

I like the remastered version of Broken Sword 2 (e.g. less pixelated cutscenes) but hated the character portraits. With your patch I can now finally disable them.

The version 1 of BS2 seems to be buggy, though. It does not disable the portraits but changes them to portraits of another person in the game. Could you fix that?

Thanks for your fast reply and once again thanks for those patches. Would it be possible for you to make a "disable POIs" patch for BS2R like you did for the DC?
In the first post i have already posted
BS2R Disable Points Of Interest patch
http://www.mediafire.com/?zszwaaza0qowb7z
but if that doesn't work either i will look into that as well :)
I must have been blind :D
I think i found the problem with the V1 patch for BS2R, i will try to upload a fix tomorrow for you to try (just gotta do a bit more testing first and then sleep since its late here). Thanks for letting me know, not sure how it went wrong in the first place but i messed up somewhere along the line.
Great. Let me know when you're ready.
