Decided to set up a discord server for the original Age of Wonders 1, since there appeared to not be one previously.

Especially, the section of hex editing the game is informative.

You should totally try out this one map I made, which has a custom unit library of 1,000 identical heroes with no race relations that have spellcasting II but lack strike. Means you can Call Hero and then get a guaranteed seduction/charm dominate on them. And in Age of Wonders 1 all heroes can cast spells on the strategic map, so you can just run a chain-summoning of spellcasters until they start eating all your gold in upkeep. At which point they can start summoning fire elementals or whatnot, since those only cost mana.

The sparks are really going to fly in a PBEM on that map soon.

Wasn't intended to be patronizing... I mean it seriously! You've rounded up all the AoW 1 players from around the world and have games, mods, and discussions happening. That's pretty cool and you should be proud of your efforts.
